MÜNSTER, Germany – The 2014 riots in Vietnam heavily affecting Tubus’ long term production partner Bor Yueh revealed the weakness of depending on a single manufacturing location. Therefore Tubus expands its production base by cooperating with Standwell. The bike carrier specialist is also planning production in Europe.
“In response to growing demand for our carrier brand Racktime we were looking for additional production capacity,” says Tubus COO Ditmar Slik. Today Tubus supplies 165 OEMs worldwide.
New partner
In addition to the existing long-term partnership with Bor Yueh which produces almost exclusively for Tubus in Vietnam and Taiwan, the German bike carrier company found a new partner in Standwell. They will start production of Racktime carriers in their facility in Shenzen, China.
Vietnam
According to Tubus, the capacity in the re-built factory in Vietnam increased significantly as well. Though Bor Yueh will continue to be their main supplier, the cooperation with Standwell creates a backup when necessary. Thanks to the factory in Shenzen, Tubus also expects to reduce lead-times substantially in the future.
Production in Europe
In addition, Tubus plans to build an ultramodern production facility in Europe. Currently new production machinery is being tested at Tubus’ technology centre in Germany.

StandWell
